Look up – your body follows your eyes

It sounds simple - but it makes a bigger difference than you might think. Where you look affects everything. When your eyes drop, even just slightly, your body follows.
Your shoulders tip forward, your balance shifts, and your seat becomes less connected.
Without noticing, you start riding “downwards” instead of forward. And your horse feels that. The rhythm changes. The energy drops. The connection becomes less clear. Instead, try lifting your gaze. Look where you’re going, not down at what’s happening.
Let your focus move ahead of you, guiding both you and your horse forward.
When your eyes come up, your upper body naturally aligns. Your balance improves.
Your seat follows more freely. And everything starts to feel just a little bit lighter.
It’s not about exaggerating or forcing anything. It’s a small adjustment — but one that creates a chain reaction through your entire body.
Sometimes, becoming a better rider isn’t about doing more.
It’s about noticing the small things that quietly change everything.
🤍 Next time you ride, look up for one full lap. Don’t look down once. Just forward.
