Spend as much time as you can with your horse

Becoming a better rider isn't only about the hours spent riding. Some of the most important moments happen before and after you sit in the saddle.
When you spend time with your horse outside training, you start noticing the small things.
The expressions. The energy. The routines. What feels normal and what doesn't.
You learn how your horse reacts to pressure, relaxation, stress and trust. And over time, that understanding carries into your riding too. Because good riding is never only about technique. It's about connection.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your riding is simply to slow down and spend more time together - grooming, giving a massage, going for a relaxing walk, exploring something new, grazing together or letting your horse socialize with other horses. Small moments matter more than we sometimes think. The relationship you build on the ground often shows up in the saddle.
🤍 Mini challenge: Next time you’re at the stable, spend 15 extra minutes with your horse doing something you don’t normally do together. No pressure. No goals. Just time together.
